Happy Hour – November 16th

Making a welcome return to the airwaves this week after a couple of weeks off due to werk. Thankfully, a Minion has been hired and I’m back with a bang.

First Dates, Monday Channel 4, 9PM.

As usual we spent far too much time talking about First Dates. The fact Ian watches this AND has admitted it on live radio is still a source of amusement and obviously blows a serious hole in his Indie Rocker cred. Anyway, without spoiling the whole episode, it was a good ‘un. First up was Sophie and Adam. All I can say is OUCH! And I thought it was all going so well.. Next were the token older couple Meguel and Kevin, neither of whom looked their age and both of whom were sporting some questionable tan. It was all very nice and plesant and Kevin is a serious DILF so the episode is worth watching for that fact alone. Annie and Barry, aside from sharing their names with the main characters in a children’s readers, they also left the country in tears. On a side note, don’t go all XFactor on us Fred. I can’t cope with this level of emotion on a Monday evening! Poshie Masie was back for another go after her previous date ended with her match kindly informing her that he wanted to bang as many women as possible and sew his seed in her (seriously!) Things went much better this week with James, surely a cousin of Jedward with that quiff.

The Italian Job

This is a good news story all wrapped up in a bad news story and is such a great response from the fans in the face of such a shitty event!

I first discovered the Eskies very late on the Saturday night of Knockanstockan and after about 36 hours without sleep I was absolutely wilting. I parked myself toward the back of the crowd, right between a middle aged couple shifting the faces off each other (eww) and 2 lads I’d met earlier that day with some seriously qestionable facial hair. As I said I was wilting and fully ready to call it a night, but the lads came on stage and gave it absolute socks, shoes and then some. Definitely one of my fave “discoveries” of Festival Season 2015.
Anyway, long story short, while on tour in Italy, some thug robbed the Eskies’ van in Milan, relieving them of a bag with the money from all of the tickets, fees and merch from their ENTIRE UK tour. as well as a MacBook, Zoom recorder, GoPro camera and their tour planner. Bummer is an understatement.

Michelle Geraghty took it on and started a Go Fund Me page to help the lads out and so far, they’ve raised an incredible €6,000 in less than a week.

Makes you proud to be Irish seeing people coming together to help The Eskies out.
